"Wild Things" by Joe DiMino
Splendid is one of those words
I use often;
Enchanting and exquisite are others
Reduced to words, like salt and pepper
On meat when I really mean the life
They were while leaving the artists
Hand and heart; at the point of
First contact, those wild things,
Majestic in the woods, blossoms licking
Up at their hooves, fresh with the stain of green
No reason not to anticipate another step
Too late by the knell of thunder
.
