"Why We Write" by Joe DiMino

Sometimes a song
or poem enters with a rush—
hyperventilating theme
and content;

Then there are
those children
of literature—taking
their own sweet-time
when arriving—
who after great pain
and extra nurturing
require a congregation
of prayer…

Oh!—were the flesh
and heart
edited easily as most text—
a little white-out,

and presto…

each our stories
on some level a true life
saturated as subject
foraging for an author
to write
the only way out….
