"Why We Love Opera" (by Joe DiMino)

Even dying
Is the process of living—
So I die as the operas,
Long and heart-felt;
Cast surrounding,
Weepiest performers
Front-stage;
The audience applauds,
My Sustain
Remarkable—
Still hear them
When gone,
Taking bows
In the grave—
Bouquets are tossed
They fall prone, as my feet;
Yet the audience
Refrains from retreat…
They are also
Conscious of their own,
Secretly wanting
To part as I
Bellowing out
A perfectly
Pitched Grown!
