"To Be Skinned In War" (by Joe DiMino)

Hats! My wife has a collection--
Many colors;
Flowers, feathers--wide brim small;
Then there are leather shoes-
A closet full--tall on heels
Or none at all;
Dresses and gowns--plain,
Sparkled, and frilled;
Furs--the real stuff--
Raised to be killed;

Now we have children--
Almost like ourselves;
In uniforms 4;
Delivered and pampered,
Nearly grown,
To be skinned in war--
