"This World" (by Joe DiMino)

This World of cause and effect;
Of here and departing--
Where nothing is permanent,
And love
Seeming always fragile;
At the least
On a cusp
In transition;
The decision,
To follow
Or decline—clinging
To death

I hold a tear of mine
Transparent to light—

The heart’s prism allowing
Its precious drop
Into devisions infinite

Heaven’s own crystal
Apparent,
The Christ manifest
Outright in man—
God’s jewel-presence
The Trinity exposing

Earth having been dealt
Eternal demise;
While Heaven, through
Such painful canal,
Breaths into life
New destiny
Each immortal
Not for suffering
But its mystery divine
Unfolding....
