"The Writer" by Joe DiMino
As with
other predators
I am best alert
at night
my prey
the typical
blood-lust;
going for
the jugular
of words
Ancients say,
lifes spirit is
in the blood
The poet
knowing well,
saturating
the table
and carpet
with his kill;
applying his art
till the bare-bones
resurrected
and published
put to rest
with the dawn
