"The Focus" (by Joe DiMino)

We see less what is
And more what is looked for—
The focus and not the lens,
The object subordinate
To the mind

In fact, the soul seeks
Before the physical responds,
All lumps till we will
Our loving connections

These are both good and evil,

The shaping of the world
Outside its light
Though well rounded
Having points and edges;
As yet no bottom
To the abyss--
