"The Chagrined Genie" (by Joe DiMino)

So what’s new?
The genie said,
Any wishes like
Large knishes—
Extra cheese
I may still please
(You glutton)

That’s old
The genie said—
Genies long out of lamps
As leprechauns happily
Parted from their gold,
A freedom twist
Though the compliant story
Yet published
And sold

Ah! Love again you ask for—

The old and new combined

Wanting hearts forever
Blissfully entwined—

But love, genies, no-longer-do:
Not the Christ
Having found it wasted
On the likes of you….
