"Tasted A Star Last Night" (by Joe DiMino)

Tasted a star last night:
Sort of a finger pointing dip—
Tasted a star last night
Put a light-touch on my lip;
And from its bathing dark
I took an equally strange
Yet delightful sip,
Using night’s handy ladle
Just a constellation reach;

Some flavors far-out teach—

Did not fill
The void between us
(A vintage worth distilling….)

Sensing that if I did
Never an extending thought
Would find
The necessary willing
To leave its cask
Entirely behind—
Spill off into the night
Despite the emptying
A seeming filling….
