"Stopping For Roses," by Joe DiMino.

Sometimes I wonder
over the rose,
no longer trying
to define
its scent and beauty

but barely keeping aloft
I fight the urge
to sink deeper
become one
as always intended.

Colors darken
within the shadow
of my hovering form,
daring not to dip
too closely
fearing never again
to rise.
