"Someone Should Have Told My Heart" (by Joe DiMino)

If love was not eternal,
Someone should have told
My heart;
Unlike other aging wares of me,
Monumental-maintenance-
Tears in me,
Widening, longing their parts—
Yes, if love was not eternal
Seeming even greater growing
In my latter-years (my golden tatter-years)
Someone
Should
Have
Told
My
Heart;

If love was not eternal
Why do I see more?
So many are wondrous details
When youthful eyes
Never saw;
My core-spirit, crying out
Now enlightened
For breath
Of a new start!—
Yes, if love was not eternal,
If life was not forever,
Someone should have told
My heart….
