Angel Beware (by mary etta metcalf)
angel beware of times that are surrounding you
of a world gone crazy with you in the middle
where hearts become pained eyes roll heavenward
you cry at the mere thought of love forsaken
angel beware of times that are surrounding you
where lies become the accepted way of life
they no longer know the difference anymore
you cry at the mere thought of love forsaken
angel beware of times that are surrounding you
of times forgotten that no longer exist for us
where dreams manifest from lives of long ago
you cry at the mere thought of love forsaken
angel beware of times that are surrounding you
where the past can only be seen through the mind
tears fall freely at love lost reality a thing of the past
you cry at the mere thought of love forsaken
Never Sure Which You Are (by mary etta metcalf)
light and dark each having failed us at a time of need only
one is true
reaching toward the sky begging for answers only to be denied
it is your quest you must succeed to know the truth to be yourself
child of the light child of the dark never sure which you are
being of both searching for self in both worlds finding no
answers
knowing one is the salvation the other a lie but which one do
you trust
playing games instead of paying attention time is now lost searching
on
child of the light child of the dark never sure which you are
the answer lies beyond your reach yet it is there seeking you
as you go
answers are found only by you this is your quest no others may
search
reaching for the skies seeking yet for more assistance again denied
child of the light child of the dark never sure which you are
there are no shortcuts to this quest who you are is what youve
always been
always there all the time waiting for you to find looking in the
wrong places
looking up again the answer opens up you have found your search
is done
child of the light child of the dark never sure which you are
The Dreams One Has (by mary etta metcalf)
of a time in the past of a time now in the future
a family on the outskirts of each others lives
where love was spoken of in abstract terms
no one knew what it was but always afraid of it
the dreams one has that go unanswered
we grew up with no inkling no ideas always searching
looking in wrong places not recognizing what was had
confused about life confused about ourselves who were we
never knowing where to look nor believing what we had
the dreams one has that go unanswered
traveling in different directions strangers to each other
wondering what was wrong with this picture who were we
never finding each other never knowing what we missed
was this always the way it was could there be another way
the dreams one has that go unanswered
all are gone all is past i remain to always ponder the whys
wondering what had happened to this family i grew up with
knowing something was wrong something was missing
could i change its outlook could i create a different world
the dreams one has that go unanswered
