"Not Enough To Forget" (by Joe DiMino)
I thought to write you a song--
Something not long;
A simple melody
For sweet rhyme
In 4-quarter time--
A downbeat
Followed by rests three--
Spaces we left free
To fill with lots of memory--
So I started a poem--
Began with refrain,
The backwards way life treated us
When not fully begun,
Leaving before not quite met,
Only remembering
To have been denied
Our fair-share
To cherish or regret--
This saddest love of all
Is having not enough to forget.
