Not All--Just Too Many (by Joe DiMino)

Time is not
a mesh of gears…
nor vibrating quartz,
accountable
in numbers alone—

More, it is hearts
(loves
and fears)—

real noses and ears;

certainly not
the tips of pens,

the academics
bloodletting spears…

though puncturing
and punctured

easily healed
by like selves—
an impenetrable
fortress is tenure…

politicians
professors
and lawyers
(not all,
just too many)—

small wonder
from highest
to down
under
Christ seemed
to prefer
the common
man…
