"Not A Shallow Person" by Joe DiMino

I’m not a shallow person;
most of my life indelible,
dear as heart-cords,
or a cyst on the liver
and a thick layer of fat
that only my maker
can see—and a competent physician;

So, to say I bleed easily
depends on what kind of cut;
and the healing is more
letting go…if not—indefinite;
for the soul takes no prisoners
only memories
both the jailer
and the caged
indentured as
all institutions.
