"Materialism" by Joe DiMino

The sun knows how
To be a sun;
And the moon, how
To capture another’s
Light; and through trial
And error—
The having and losing—
I have learned
Heartfelt deeply
The true mystery
Of darkness
And light.

I saw a fancy car
And thought, were I younger
I’d love to have one of those;
Got a closet full of suits
And no care
To dress up and go;
Having a heart full of love
And wanting only to give
I thought,
What good a ring that will
Never tarnish
With you, now, in
The grave….
