"Love is a Many Splendid Thing" (by Joe DiMino)
Love is a Many Splendid Thing
And then
We ask of it
Far deeper;
For the surface
Is only apparent
(Like that shiny cliché
We come to call
Skin Deep),
And we really
Want the hooks
As well
That which
Claws-in
Secures in the blood
And holds
With tenacity;
So we ask the same strength
We know of
Bad habits
And company
The addictions
We call hell
To release
But love must be
To the good
The fine line
Or the thread
With its needle
To bond
Or painfully prick
Love is very near
A complex close
Of all we dread
And bed
.
