"If I Write Again of Roses" (by Joe DiMino)
If I write again
Of roses
Will you recall
Only thorns?
There was a time
When roses
Were all the rage,
We should have
Marked the page
Turned down a corner
Kept our story
From the shelf,
A graveyard of
Classics;
If I write again
Of roses
Will you read
A vintage line?
I bet I can find
A wine
Reminiscent of our time
Together, when roses
Were all the rage
We should have
Marked the page,
Turned down a corner
Today is a paperless age:
One key pressed
Wipes anything away,
Even hearts
Though never meant
For Recycled
.
