"I Saw a Sunbeam" (by Joe DiMino)
I saw a sunbeam
Break from the others,
Refract as if a gem
Where all
The morning sky,
And this one
Wayward gleam
Deflected toward
Another wayward
Eye
A new life dawned
Out of me:
As if my soul
A stale room
Window lifted high
Fresh
Rushing in
From a private manger
Rose out of me
My Wise-men
Like a quiet field
Alone, off a-ways
Far from
The common lie,
Not content
With the herd
Giving birth
No predetermined
Mother
Released her
Conquering-cry
On a limb
In a nest
With its new bird
Apart from the rest
One flower
Vacant of grass
Dared to bloom
Though a crushing
Pass
