"I Need No Science to Affirm" (by Joe DiMino)

I need no science to affirm
That which the heart already intimately knows;
For what does science see beyond its anatomy?

Can it tell me of the cells awakening?

Of the call to another for assembly,

And yet another to breathe in life,
Expelling that of new creation—

No I will not worship the physical!

As does the holder of icons
And the procurer of steeples;

The responders to solid magnets,
Ultimately submitting to bonds; refusing
To imagine an evolving spirit free
Beyond reason—

A greater sense
Transcending fear irregardless of fact;

Spits on the grave
My evidence earth’s shallow potency
For all—
