"Fear Dread" (by Joe DiMino)

Took a ride
On a cloud last night…
Conductor said, “All aboard!”
As he flew by,
Though I don’t fly—
But somehow up there
I transferred to a cloud,
No fear of falling…

Fear—
Afraid of quite clear;
The choice
To die bravely,
Or to live fearful,
And thus be said,
To live the safe life
Of dread…

I tested the theory—
Stepped from the cloud…
Aloft a mountain range,
And indeed strange
High I kept floating—
The mountains soon
No more,
The cloud now dewdrops,
The tears I never shed—
The life I never led…fear-dread,
Fear-dread…
