"Dare I Ask The Bud" (by Joe DiMino)

Dare I ask the bud
What some
Prefer kept secret?—
Questions of blossom
And passion?
Of deeper surfaces
Brought to light for
Exposure?—
The temptation
Stirring Serpent-senses
To pick and covet
Though it means death.

Oh we do anything
To capture and retain!
Draw of Elysium-wells
For fertile-heart—
But all in time
That grows will perish,
Except that,
Christened of the Spirit,—
Immortalized out of season
By God!
