"Cut Stems" (by Joe DiMino)

No crime or sin
For the stems you cut—
Complicit, blame Mother
For irresistible nature—
And those bakes of cookies
Left out—no locks on the jars
Just a warning with a wink—
Children, not before dinner;
So if Mother can blink,
Then a bouquet in a window;
And some crumbs, all that’s left,
She smiles at the theft;
So why, persist I—mere man
And not flawless creator—
Judge all my brothers’ actions
Using human eyes
Like a gator
