"Better To Have..." by Joe DiMino

I am preached toward the center
A sanctuary of balance—
Strange though,
That which I cherish
Most of life
Has always come
From the vague periphery:

A note stretched
Beyond the acoustical
Precipice;

A reverberation
Somewhere off and out
In the deep dark
Or light of soul—

When speaking of soul
All is taboo:
The priest condemns
And the heathen devours—
The rare individual
Stands strong against them all,
Not to judge
But to live and learn
The essence of grace
And Almighty Power
Of The Imaginative
Spirit—

Better to have dreamed
A nightmare
Than awaken
With nothing
Worthy of recall…
