"Age Does Have A Way" by Joe DiMino
Age does have a way
of aging us-
Oh, I don't mean
just hair color
and creases
referring more:
from toy guns,
to missing limbs
and shattered lives;
with fewer people
seeming to turn to
for help
But most doctors
are still, at the core
kildares and Caseys;
and honorable politicians
and good cops
vs the bad apples
are on tips of limbs,
far from the trunk
our majority body
and source-
though the best bark
often blisters
(society's surface);
and insects crawl
between furrows
sometimes eating
deep to the heart
of humanity-
still struggling for
a perfect place
and time
.
