"A Penny for Your Thoughts" by Joe DiMino

“A penny for your thoughts”
She said; a distant look
In his eyes—quite painful
To realize
Competition clear
After only one bliss year;
“And where do you fly?
My love—now frequently
Fasting from me—A place
Sensed mortal free

—and is there sun?
Or in the rain?—More like
Poetic mist…I know
You travel far away
Deeply to be kissed—
A place no school can
Teach—search as I have
Find with sadness
Some cores
No lover can reach

Now composing
Blues

Your commitment really
To the Muse….”
